We purchased a traditional Hereford bull to use on heifers for our 250 cow dairy herd.
We had previously used other native sires including Poll Hereford and Devon but had persistently encountered large calves and resulting Calving problems.
We recently calved our first batch of seventy 2 year old Holstein heifers to Carpenters Hector and only had to assist a handful of calvings. Following calving only a couple required treatments at postnatal checks.
Calves were vigorous and have sold well to numerous calf rearers.

The bull has excellent libido, and conception rate combined with a good temperament.

Another Vote for the Traditional Hereford! We bought one of Helens Bulls to put on our Dairy Herds Holstein Heifers, just calved 70 and hardly helped one. Fantastic quiet nature too.
